The legacy of a family

For over 75 years, our family has had the privilege of working with patients and families. Our greatest joy is in seeing how expertly crafted orthotic and prosthetic devices improve the quality of life for our patients.
Gerald Lett, CPO

Gerald started working in the profession in 1963 with his father, J. Harvey Lett, who was a Certified Orthotist. After training at New York University and Northwestern University, Gerald was certified in 1978 by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics. He has over 45 years of experience working with individuals who need our special kind of care. Gerald continues to seek training and education in order to stay abreast of recent O & P developments and technologies.

Gerald retired in 2018.

Alan Lett, CPO

Alan started working in the profession with Gerald in the summer of 1985 during his final two years of high school. He started prosthetic school in 1992 following graduation from West Virginia University. Alan became certified in 1998 in both Prosthetics and Orthotics, just like his father had twenty years earlier. Also like his father, Alan continues to seek training and education in order to stay abreast of recent O & P developments and technologies.

Donnie Mccutcheon, COA

Donnie started working for J Harvey in the orthotic industry in 1967. While working for him, Donnie completed an orthotic technical course. He worked for J Harvey for 18 years before leaving to pursue other interests. Donnie then came to work for WV O&P in 1998.

Donnie brings an extensive knowledge, experience, and skill of fabrication techniques as well as measuring, molding and fitting orthotic devices.

Charles Collins, BOCPO

Charles began working in the orthotic and prosthetic profession in the spring of 2001. Charles gained hands-on knowledge of fabricating and fitting orthotic/ prosthetic devices. While completing an Associate of Science degree he
also attended numerous educational courses and seminars in the O&P field. Charles successfully completed a rigorous process to earn certification as a Prosthetist – Orthotist from the Board of Certification (BOC).

Charles joined WV Orhtotic & Prosthetic Center in January of 2011. He continues to stay current in his training with continuing education courses and conferences.

The legacy of a family, a legacy of care
1933
J. Harvey Lett is offered a 30-cent-per-hour job making braces for patients with physical challenges.
He was repairing a neighbor’s fence at the time.
1951
Indiana Brace Company
J. Harvey takes a job as an orthotist with Indiana Brace Co. in Indianapolis.
1961
Parsley Manufacturing
J. Harvey purchases Parsley Manufacturing Co. in Charleston, WV.
1963
Gerald joins the company to help out with the rapidly increasing business.
1968
Clarksburg Artificial Limb Company
Gerald and Audrey purchase Clarksburg Artificial Limb Company in Clarksburg, WV.
1972
LETT Orthopedic Industries
J. Harvey and Gerald merge their companies to form LETT Orthopedic Industries with offices in Clarksburg, Fairmont and Princeton.
1992
LETT Orthopedics is sold to a larger company
1997
West Virginia Orthotic & Prosthetic Center
On November 1, Gerald, Audrey and son Alan continue the family legacy with the opening of West Virginia Orthotic & Prosthetic Center in Beckley.
